Card Captor Sakura Plushies
What better for a mini-update than a whole pile of minis? These
plushies were so darned cute, I couldn't resist adding them to the
page, right now! Who said patience is a virtue?
- Sakura in Yellow Dress
- Sakura's yellow dress is not quite as famous as Askua's (from
Evangelion) yellow dress, but it's pretty darned cute.
- Sakura in Bunny Fighting
Outfit
- Don't think this one was included in the Battle Plushies set. Anyway,
Sakura is all decked out as a fuzzy bunny, and ready to fight evil! (And
people wonder why I love this show.)
- Plush Keychains
- So cuuuute! And only about 3" high. Here are some closeups:
- Sakura in Red-Eared Battle
Costume
- Sakura in Pink Costume
- Sakura in Swimsuit
- Sakura in Orange
Costume
- Sakura in School Uniform
- Mascot Keychains
- These
"mascot" keychains are all teeny and tagged. They are a must for
shameless Kero-chan fans (such as I). Here's some closeups.
- Kero in a Vest
- Sakura in a Blue Dress
- Kero in a Top Hat
- Flying Kero-chan
- Kero in a Pink Cap
Color Hair Jenny
- Color Hair Abel
- OK,
so you knew this latest color hair business couldn't just stop with
our old pal Jenny, but had to spread to her trendy friends. And just to
prove the point, here is Abel with pink hair and a
foofy
dress to match. Here's a close-up of her face. And no, she doesn't
have pink eye.
- Color Hair
Mille-feuille
- The doll with the name you can't spell! I must admit, I've never
previously had any inclination to own a Mille-feuille, until, that
is, I saw this amusing lavender-haired example. This is a great-looking
doll, actually worth keeping around in her original outfit. Here's a
macro of the doll's face.
It's a Cartmen Christmas
Christmas day is nearly here! Have you been good? (Me neither.) And
so, here is the best part of the holiday season, presents for me. And who
better to give presents to me, than me?
Various and Sundry Anime Dolls
- Rutee Kartlet
- This chick hails from a game called "Tales of Destiny." She's a
Takara doll, with the standard Takara SAJ body. I liked her 'cause she
came with lots of stuff for
assorted violence, like boots and kneepads and a tambourine. (A
tambourine? Well, I guess you have to play the game. Here's a macro of
the face. I like her tough
expression, and the violet colored eyes.
- Shino
- Another limited edition doll from the marvelous Volks, Shino is
dressed in a shiny variation of the ubiquitous French Maid outfit. Note that
although Volks has helpfully included some flesh-colored plugs to cover
the doll's screw-holes, they have neglected to include, say, a vacuum, or
mop. Some crummy maid service she is. The doll's face reminds me of an anime
character, whose name I'm sure I will recall as soon as I've downloaded
this page.
- G-Taste
- "Nice body, nice buddy."
These lovely gals are produced by a company called
"Azone." It seems to be a tale of two of Tokyo's Finest (who just
happen to wear Ally McBeal-length mini-skirts). As is necessary for
conducting serious police business, there is a
blond and a brunette. The set includes
essentials, like a little gun and
handcuffs.
- Etoko-chan
- Stands to reason that one day, I'd buy an Etoko. I was just waiting
for the right one. For those of you
who don't know, Etoko serves as kind of a busty mascot for Marmit. Here's
a close-up of her face. Etoko has
been presented in a variety of costumes and disguises over the years, as
seen in the artwork on the back of the
box.
- Asuka
- My friend Gwen's favorite EVA character ("She's half German! Didja
know that? Huh? Huh?"), Askua has been captured in doll form by Sega,
and as an action figure, by Kotobukiya. Here she is in her Marmit
version. She's wearing her school uniform, not her
famous yellow dress, although she does have an extra gym uniform. Here's
a gander at her face. I
don't think they sculpted her looking ornery enough!
Shoujo Anime Stuff
- Twinkle Pegasus
- Oh boy! I'd been looking for this piece for a long time. This guy is
from Super S. If you'll remember these was some business about this evil
guy trying to steal folks's beautiful dreams. Chibi Moon spent a lot of
time hanging out with Pegasus. Here's a look at him deboxed. I love the
Super S packaging.
- Moon Rod
- This is the Bandai Asia version of Sailor Moon's "Cutie Moon Rod," the
first of innumerable weapons she was given for the purpose of fighting
evil. Here's a picture of the toy loose
- Sailor Moon R
Sketchbook
- This is an interesting piece. You know those sketches you often find
behind your animation cels (the ones that often annoy you by sticking
to your cels)? Well, this is a book of prints of a bunch of
those sketches, with two or three colors. I'm not exactly sure what it's
for--make your own anime cels? But some of the sketches are pretty to
look at.
- Sakura's Key
- Another Cardcaptor Sakura role-playing toy: this is the little key
that Sakura wears on a chain. I think it's supposed to play music or
something.
- Sakura action figure
- This is another in the Bandai Real Model series of action
figures. Unlike the others I've seen (which were boxed) this one is
carded, and features Sakura in a cute battle outfit, plus a little bitty
Kero-chan.
- Plush Kero-chan
- Speaking of Kero, here's a mid-sized UFO catcher of our favorite
video game-playing flying teddy bear. From Banpresto, of course.
- Wedding Peach Model
- My friend Corky alerted me to this spiffy Peach model. Here she is,
out of box. This is one of
those kind of "is-it-a-model-is-it-a-figure" kind of question marks. The
arms move, so it's kind of a figure.
Jenny
- NB 21
- This whacked out Jenny is supposed to be a prototype for Things to
Come from Jennyland next year. As you can see, this rather voluptuous
take on Jenny doesn't have any joints. Instead, she has a kind of
gumby-style body. She has the Brigitte head mold, which is a lot
more smiley and Barbie-like than the standard Jenny.
- Licca-chan Keychain
- Isn't this cute? I think These little keychains were made after
Takara saw how much Barbie collectors love those little Hallmark
ornaments.
- Color Hair Licca
Postcard
- Isn't this cool? I put my Licca-chan dolls by the heating vents to
change their hair color.
Weird Stuff
- Powerpuff!
- Woo-hoo! Who more natural for a set of UFO catchers but the Powerpuff
Girls, characters who conveniently already look like UFO catchers. I got
the last set at Toys R Us.
- Mugato
- Boy, talk about dumb toy of the year! Do you remember that stupid
episode of the original Trek, where Kirk spent the episode fighting some
guy in an ill-fitting white gorilla suit? Well, now they've made a toy to
commemorate the embarassment of Trek fans everywhere. This guy is going
straight to my desk at work to fight Carrot Monster from the Lost in Space
series.
- Beatles action figures
- How I wish I'd had these Yellow Submarine toys as a kid! Oh well, I
have them now. These McFarlane Toys figures are the best, especially my
fave, the Blue Meanie.
