Happy Labor Day! Well, I finally got my scanner working (turns out I'd just set a couple of the options incorrectly--d'oh!), and I got up the Sailor Moon toy pix.

The Dirty Pair

Kei
Straight from the manga, those mistresses of destruction, Kei and Yuri. These dolls are from the Bandai "Lovely Gals" series, same as Saki Asamiya, who's number 5 in the series. This series boasts some great sculpting, plus wonderful packaging.
Yuri
These dolls come with guns (eat your heart out, Barbie!), and are packaged in attractive and amusing boxes. The back of the boxes demonstrate that Kei and Yuri's space bikinis are indeed removable.

Miscellaneous Anime Madness

Miyuki Kobayakawa
I had initially overlooked these dolls from the "You're Under Arrest" series. (Miyuki's partner, Natumi Tsuzimoto, is also available.) They are actually very attractive! The uniforms are made out of real, heavyweight fabric, and there are even teeny tiny little buttons on the blouse, and a real belt on the skirt. The dolls have the posable Jenny Super Action body. And the accessories are wonderful, including a teensy police whistle, and Barbie-sized handcuffs!
Nurse Angel Ririka
A very cute doll from a very cute anime. Ririka comes with her wand, so she can go around saving your other dolls.
Gatchaman keyring set
Whoa! How many of these goldurned Tatsunoko keyrings did they make anyway? (Rhetorical question kids: they've made 7 so far.) There's even a teensy little Phoenix ship! By the way, these keyrings are from Terry and Carmen, two very very nice people who sell a lot of anime stuff on ebay. Thanks again!
EVA Tect dolls
This is a picture I left out from last time--it just shows that the Tect Misato, with the Jenny 18 body, is indeed taller than the Rei or Asuka dolls from the same series. Supposedly, Tect didn't do too well with these dolls, which is why they let other folks like Marmit take up the license. It'ss surprising considering what a cash cow for merchandising that series has become.

Sailor Moon Toy-o-Rama!

All of the following pages are scanned directly from some cute Nakayoshi books I picked up recently. The books mostly consist of summaries and pictures of the Sailor Moon anime, but there's a few pages near the back that picture a sample (a small sample) oof the toys made for the various seasons. They're black and white pictures, unfortunately, so use your imaginations, kids! If nothing else, I think these pages give some feel for the bewildering array of Moon merchandise that's been cranked out over the years. And my books only go halfway through the five seasons!

Sailor Moon
Vol 1, page 1
The Luna Pen is probably the most recognizable toy on this page.
Vol 1, page 2
Here's an image of the original, vinyl-haired Sailor Moon doll. I've seen the Bandai Asia version of that Moon Wand, but not the original.
Vol 2, page 1
The original five Sailor Senshi dolls are pictured here (even though the boxes on the early dolls I've seen all say "Sailor Moon R").
Vol 2, page 2
Lots of little tchotchkes, like pens, pins, and fans.
Sailor Moon R
Page 1
Luna P! Cuuuute! I don't recognize the little figures. I like the Moon camera however. What do you wanna bet it's pink?
Page 2
More tchotchkes, like Moon balloons and hand soap. That item halfway down on the right looks like a Moon board game of some kind.
Page 3
The little figures and their accessories. Love those Moon fuzzy slippers!
Page 4
More cute little figures, and some vinyls. I don't recognize that boxed vinyl in the middle of the top row.
Sailor Moon S
Vol 1, page 1
Sailor Neptune and Uranus dolls, and their outfits, finally show up here.
Vol 1, page 2
This "group photo" adds Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Pluto to the Moon "family" of dolls.
Vol 1, page 3
Uranus and Neptune vinyls, plushies, and several role-playing toys.
Vol 1, page 4
Cuuute Luna plushie! More role-playing toys, and is that a Moon video camera?
