Oops!
Well, I'd meant to post an update for my birthday, but even though I had a extra day off, I also had a sinus infection and a horrible case of The Crankies. But, that's ok, because what I have to show you is just so fabulous, it's worth waiting for!
Anime dolls and suchlike
- Pink Lady UFO doll
- You've been wondering, now all your questions are answered. Here it is, finally, The Best Doll in the World! For you fussy, fussy types, I should emphasize that Pink Lady, were not specifically anime, but rather, some marginally talented but cute Japanese idol singers named Mie and Kei, who, long, long ago (i.e., the 70s) starred in a short-lived TV show titled Pink Lady and Jeff. (No, I am NOT making this up.) I suspect this one is supposed to be Kei, though I cannot tell you why. Her two decades of residency in this box is no doubt responsible for the small stain visible on her knee. Not to be missed is the back of the box, which lists a dizzying assortment of additional costumes for the pair.
- Mahou no Angel Sweet Mint
- Another doll in the seemingly endless parade of Shoujo Anime Pam Didn't Reckon Were Made into Dolls, here is the magical girl Sweet Mint. I gather part of her magical powers involved taking up various strange occupations, which accounts I suppose for the extra nurse costume included with the doll. Also included were her bow and arrow, which the back of the box shows her jigging around with. The box is dated 1990, so I'm assuming this is not a current show.
- Magical Mermaid Pichi Pichi Pitch
- This bug-eyed doll is from a brand new anime, which, still having not gotten the hang of Bit Torrent, I have not seen. But, from a close examination of the packaging materials, we may deduce that Blondie is the main girl, along with two allies, who like to stand in back. The fact that the doll comes equipped with a microphone leads me to believe we have a group of idol singers on our hands. Further, at some point, probably involving much color and light, the girls transform into mermaids, who carry on to save the world.
On to the big-headed dolls!
Pullip Leprotto
Where exactly does Jun Planning get the names for these dolls? I mean, it sounds like the poor thing has a tropical disease. Anyway. This doll was a super-ultra-limited Pullip in her special bunny suit. Anyone else here see Donnie Darko? Anyone else figure out what the #$%*& it's supposed to mean? Anyway anyway. This gal's also got super-dark and scary eyes.
Pullip Noir
This doll is rapidly becoming Pam's Favorite Doll in All the Universe. Why? Start with two different eye colors--how punk is that? She comes with a little chained-up teddy bear with real joints on his legs. Here she is, kicking it on our back porch.
Sahra 60 Favorite Time
Azone has gone crazy! They've blown up Sahra to mammoth proportions, plopping her head on one of those groovy Obitsu 60 cm bodies. Here she is hanging in the computer room with Abigail my Franken-Pullip consisting of a Pullip Moon head on an Obitsu 60 cm body.
Dollfie Dream Mirai
My first Super Dollfie! Woo-hoo! Mirai is from a brand new Volks series, which has a bit more adult bodies than some of the earlier SDs. She also has the most amazing anime eyes. Her dress is fairly elaborate, with lots of ties--amazingly enough, I've seen people on Yahoo Japan auctions buy the doll just to get the outfit.
