Hola!
Just got back from lovely Mexico City, where it's polluted, overcrowded, noisy, dangerous and mucho, mucho fun! And I do mean dangerous! While I was away, drinking margaritas and snarfing up tacos al pastor, some evil imposter must have ordered dozens of dollies in my name! The nerve.
Lina
- Circus Bravo Lina
- One of the very, very first LIna dolls ever. It's historic! Way back in 1992, Lina joined Raph and Kisara in Ellie's Circus Bravo. I have yet to find the Ellie from the set, in case someone out there wants to buy me a Christmas present. Ellie's accessories include a golden cane, and you may be able to see she's a bit taller than Jenny. Lina started life as a blond, although Takara was to inflict many different hair colors on her over the millennia. (See below.)
- Jenny Shop Lina in black
- Lina as Morticia Addams? She's dressed in a very creepy, textured black dress, though her hair is actually dark brown, not black. The jewel on her choker matches the one on her ring and earrings. The box includes a note flanked with cobwebs, leading me to believe this may've been a Halloween-themed doll.
- Castle Lina with wine hair
- From the oldest Lina, to one of the newest, this Lina was available by mail-order from the Licca-chan castle, and sports the newer wine colored hair.
Kisar-a-rama!
Frequent visitors to this page are no doubt aware of my passion for Kisara and her cousins, Lie (a Frankensteinian combination of the Kisara head on a Jenny body) and Shion (basically, Kisara staring straight ahead). I've had the good fortune lately to acquire Kisarian dolls of varying bizarre hair colors.
- Castle Shion with green hair
- This kooky doll with emerald green hair was only available at some Licca Castle JTB tour that I think never happened. HOWEVER! For those of use who are Castle-impaired, it also pops up with alarming frequency on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. She's got purple eyes. Ain't that cool?
- "Tiki Goddess" Kisara
- I've been having absolutely rotten luck lately with the outfits they've been slapping on my Castle dolls. I mean, enough with the pink denim jackets, folks! I was therefore pleased as the proverbial punch when this purple-haired gal arrived, clad in a matching purple tiki goddess outfit. fun doll, huh?
- Castle To Go Shion with wine hair
- Wine hair and Shion, goes together like kahlua and cream. (Sorry, Tiki Goddess Kisara has got me wishing for a drink with a big umbrella in it.) This is the second (that I know about) Castle Shion with wine hair. This was a Castle "To Go" doll, which begs the question of whether the Castle now has a drive through. ("Talk to the clown!") Anyways, the first wine Shion had blue eyes, and this one has brown eyes.
- Castle Kisara with silver hair
- Is Kisara going grey? I believe this may've been a Thanks Fair doll of some sort. Then again, maybe not. Nevertheless, dig the silver hair.
When hair goes weird
- Castle Kaori with purple hair
- This gal was originally in Hiroko's collection. She's dressed in a pink Jenny Super Model outfit, and her eyes even have lavender highlights. Just an editorial comment, but doesn't Kaori have the best eye print ever?
- Totoco Christmas Juliana
- If you'll recall, Juliana is Jenny's disco-happy friend, the one who has a club named after her. This very unusual silver-haired Totoco Juliana is dressed as Santa's helper, including a see-through cloak and go-go boots. Well, I guess that's what Santy Claus gets for asking a disco diva for help on Xmas eve. And, no, she doesn't have shiny red nose.
- Castle Raph with silver hair
- Well, it was a good in theory at least: Raph, Jenny's hunky steady, crowned with silver tresses above those side-glancing eyes. For whatever reason, however, some Castle denizen has seen fit to dress him in a maitre d' outfit which was apparently left over from Juliana's disco.
- Castle Marine with green hair
- I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that this gal was actually one of umpteen (ok, actually 12) monthly Marine dolls with varying bizarre hair colors. Alas, I was standing behind the proverbial door when this series was issued, so I have been forced to gather them one by one into my vast collection. Mwa-ha-ha! At least this gal has a pretty cool black outfit. For some reason, a lot of the monthly Marine dolls I've seen are all wearing the exact same Jenny Super Model outfit.
And now for something completely different....
- Lycee Love Impulse
- Anybody remember Lycee Love Blitz? This is her blue cousin, Lycee Love Impulse. She's got the same boots, same hat, even the same pink streaks in her hair. So what's the difference? Ah, it's all in the plaid trim!
- Ring of the Niebelungen Royce
- This is one of three dolls made by Volks, evidently for a video game based on The Ring of the Niebelungen. And, no, I don't recall a character named "Royce" wearing kitty-cat ears in Wagner's original, but then I'm prefer power pop to opera. Be that as it may, Royce has got a damn fine eye print, and so many groovy little accessories, she requires an instruction manual! (Helpfully, it's all written in Japanese.)
