Cool stuff! Cool stuff!
I'm so happy when I get a new box of stuff. I bounce up and down, and my husband rolls his eyes.
Volks dollies
- Niebelungenlied doll
- It's not over 'til the fat lady sings! Evidently, this gal was only available at Dollpa 9. She's from a video game based on the Niebelungenlied, ie, The Ring Cycle. I think she's supposed to be a Valkyrie, thus the little wing deal-os on her hat. Pretty blue eyes anyway.
- Muv-Luv doll
- This gal is evidently a character from a game called Muv-Luv. I liked her 'cause her hairstyle kinda reminds me of Cardcaptor Sakura.
- Who's That Girl Mami
- This doll's from a new Volks line called Who's That Girl. There's two basic head molds, Kana and Mami, and they come with a variety of hairstyles and eye colors. I've redressed her in an old Barbie Fashion Avenue outfit. Mami seems to be pondering something.
Takara
- Parasite Eve Aya and Melissa
- Oooo, I've been waiting sooooo long to get these gals! They were supposed to be severely limited for whatever stupid reason. I like the action! cartoon on the back of the box.
- Angelic Layer Shirahime
- For those who know about Angelic Layer, it's about people who battle dolls. Cool concept, and very recursive to actually make dolls for the series. There is also a Hikaru doll in the set. Here's her box.
Jenny and Pals
- Starlight Yoshiki in blue
- Oops! Almost forgot this guy. Sorry, Yoshiki! Yoshiki was the drummer for the phenomenally popular Japanese rock band X. He was known for his elaborate makeup and costumes. Takara comissioned three dolls to be made of him. This guy in blue is the more difficult to find of the set. But I found him, yessir! You gotta check out his pants--one leg is lace-up leather-look, the other is lace. I've no clue whether Yoshiki is an official friend of Jenny, as there's no mention of her on the box. Maybe she got sick of him borrowing all her makeup.
- Castle Lina with blue hair
- Wow! I debated over getting this blue-tressed gal for a while, but I'm glad I did it. The inky blue hair is just outstanding on this doll.
- Castle Shion in new year kimono
- This is another doll I waited a bit to get. She's even prettier in person than in the images I'd seen. Nice big blue eyes and dark brown hair too.
- Takara Bako Abel with pink hair
- At least, I think it's Abel. The eyeprint looks suspiciously Abel-ish, though I can't find this particular doll in my Complete Jenny File book.
- Thanks Fair Kaori with silver hair
- Wish my photos did justice to this doll. Kaori has the most amazing eye print. Here she is re-dressed in an old Barbie Fashion Avenue outfit.
Azone
- Lycee Love Blitz
- Yet another doll for whom I waited (seeminly in vain) for many a month. But fear not! I'll admit, I mostly wanted her for the bizarre name. ("Love Blitz?" Is she threatening to annex the Sudetenland of your affection? Sounds like something Elvis Costello might have conjured up, back in the day.) But, she's a pretty cool doll, with pink eyes and pink stripes in her hair.
- Dream of You Suzuna
- Like a lot of my Azone dolls, I dig this girl not for the doll itself (I'm not thrilled by Azone's head molds), but for the awesome clothing and accessories. In the case of this Suzuna, she's got wonderful buckle shoes.
- Sahra Go on a Journey
- This doll was only available at Doll Show 10 (thanks, Rudi!). Where is going? Hrrrm. Anyway, thanks to the fanatics at Azone, she's got her hat and cape and boots. Now she just needs a Thomas Guide and a compass--maybe she can borrow them from a Scramble Minako?
- Ai Happy Clover
- Another hysterical doll name from Azone. She actually does have little bitty clover on her blouse. No clue how to tell whether they are indeed happy.
This was mostly written to the noise of Wilco's BEING THERE. Who's becoming a Jeff Tweedy fanatic?
