What's Nuevo?
OK, Pam, what's your excuse this time?
We have a new toy in Casa de Green/Lopez, and it is fatally distracting. Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, I'll just let you click:

Shopping Channel Jenny set
Here's the one I've been saving up for a rainy day (so to speak, since here in Seattle then you could only save something for an average of 27 minutes). This is the one to pull out when the checking account is empty, when I've just regained that same 5 pounds for the 45th time, when I've spent approximately 500 hours this weekend dodging boom mikes and tripping over video cables.
- The Box!
- As anyone who knows me knows, I am an unrepentant packaging freak. These gals come in a fairly unassuming box. The fun come in popping open the velcro and taking a peek inside.
- Loberia
- This set was made for what's evidently the equivalent of the Home Shopping Channel over in Japan. So, Jenny and her friends are cast as various hostesses. First up is Loberia (aka Robelia and Lobelia), who I initially took to be the Japanese counterpart of The Cable Guy, as Yukari Nezu.
- Shion
- Next up is Shion, my current Doll Obsession, as that lucky gal Mitsuko Kawano.
- Kisara
- Kyoko Matsumoto is portrayed by a Kisara with (IMHO) particularly lovely facial coloring. I like blue-eyed Kisara dolls. She has a fun outfit too, with lots of sequins and fur trim.
- Jenny
- Jenny herself is Yuri Imai (who, fetchingly, signs just her first name, with a little heart).
- Marine
- The Marine doll in this set portrays Hitomi Sasaki, and she's quite a fun doll. Note the blue eyeshadow, eyelashes and eyebrows. She also carries a cute snakeskin bag.
- Lina
- And finally, Kanae Ito is represented here by another of Our Favorite Friends, Lina. She's dressed in Qi Pao, and carries a neat feather....thingie.
Anime Dolls!
But enough about Jenny for now. Let's take a look at some varied anime/video game/hobby shop/whatnot dolls.
- Volks Amanda
- Striking face paint on this gal, but the fun part happens when you spring her from her box. She's got some extra shoulder joints, so she can twist her arms around in various and sundry permutations. Here she is pretending to be a Powerpuff Girl.
- Volks Zarla
- Zarla is another gal with amazing face paint. And her outfit, complete with thigh-high lace-up boots, is nothing short of amazing.
- Robeana
- This character is evidently from a series called Robocon, and was available at the Wonder Fest a couple of years back. The box is signed by the actress in question, who goes by Natsuki. I guess Natsuki has a fan base of her own. But, the best thing about the set is the back of the box, wherein is contained a portentios quote from Nietzsche! Existentialist philosophy, anime, and idol singers, it all comes together here.
- Azone Maya Visit to UK
- Speaking of interesting quotes, check out what's written on the insert to this punky Maya doll. Was she visiting some urban cowboys in London? Maya is my nominee for Best Pants on a Doll Ever.
- Volks Showroom Angel
- Unfortunately, I've not yet gotten the chance to see an actual Volks showroom, so I've no idea if they have green-haired clerks running around in tutus. I only wish it were so.
- Wonder Fest Dolls
- Speaking of Wonder Fest, here's a pair of maid dolls (a man needs a maid, as Neil Young opined) from the con. I believe the names are Wanda-chan and Risetto-chan (maybe Lisette?). I love the facial expressions on the pair, and the nice jointing on the bodies.
- Azone Sweet Rolita
- One of my favorite dolls so far this year, Azone's purple-haired "Rolita," posing over on my Sailor Moon shelf. She's got the most wonderful pair of boots I have ever seen on a doll.
- Ra Ra Ra Munjinkun
- Who is he? What does he want? And most importantly, does that little propeller really work?
- Kukuri
- This gal is evidently from an anime called "Magical Circle Guru Guru." Here's some facts about her (if you can read Japanese), and an image of the whole gang. I gather she's supposed to be a witch, which is cool. I like her little eyeball wand.
This page was written to the sound of my husband playing Episode 1 pinball. May the force be with you!
