New Boots and Pink Eyes!
What's Nuevo???
New junk I just got around to scanning
What's Nuevo?
Look! I'm updating again
Happy Valentines Day everyone! Now is the time of year when we celebrate, as Isaac Hayes would put it, looooooove. And what do we looooove more than weird dolls, eh?
JeNnY
Had to start our visit to Pam's Valley of the Dolls with Another Yourself, Jenny. I've had some great luck lately finally obtaining a couple of dolls I have been relentlessly stalking these past couple years. Wanna see?
- Super Stage Kisara
- All I have to say is, "SQUEEEEEE!" (Just imagine Luke Skywalker's post-amputation, slide down the conveniently-located Bespin outtake duct system in the Empire Strikes Back Special Edition girly scream, only less annoying. Slightly less annoying.) She's Kisara! And she's a rock star! See that guitar? There were three different versions of this 1987-issue doll, according to my Bible, and the best damn book ever written, Complete Jenny File.
- Wine Red Shion
- Speaking of Kisara, we must mention her front-glancing doppelganger, Shion. This version with divinered hair was only available at the Licca Castle, and then only available at some fancy-dancy sort of Castle tour. Well, boogers. But I managed to wrest one off Yahoo! Japan through a simple deal with the devil coupled with a promise of my firstborn child.
- Takara Bako Judy
- Were we speaking of Weird Hair(tm) exclusive dolls? This Takara Bako Judy certainly fits the bill. This 1998 doll, with her fetching combination of green-streaked blue hair was available by mail order from Takara, only to Japan residents, during certain phases of the moon, blah blah blah.... Well, I guess I shouldn't whine--if you could just wander over and pick up these dolls at Fred Meyer, I probably wouldn't be interested in them.
- Totoco Pajamas Marine
- Yawn! So sleepy.... And this little dolly (her hair is actually a weave of black and white) was sold through the Totoco boutique. She's dressed in her cute little jammies. All she needs is a teddy bear and some fuzzy slippers. I think the pink goes well with our Valentines theme.
- Eriena with Leather Pants
- Consumer warning: NOT REALLY A JENNY! Don't know much about this gal except that her pants are supposed to be real leather and she seems to come with a lot of neat stuff.
Anime Dolls!
But what's even better than pink fuzzy slippers? How about pink eyes and pink hair! Which is why we loooooooove anime dolls.
- Henshin Creamy Mami
- I had known about this doll for a couple years now. A dealer had on at the San Diego Comic Con, but poor grad student me was too poor to buy one. Fast-forward to the Twenty-First Century, where I find not only doll but also her very silly playset. I guess the deal is the set transforms from a DJ set to a TV set. I don't know the Creamy Mami storyline enough to see how all this is relevant to the storyline, but the girl on the box seems darned happy about everything.
- Family Restaurant A La Mode
- Don't know a thing about this series (if it's even a series, and not an RPG or something, but the doll is cute, and the box design is neat.
- Nonoshi
- This doll is adorable! That's her hanging with a CyberTricks dolls up above. I especially like her little jester hat.
- Azone Cyber Tricks trio
- Neat packaging job on these guys. Love how the eyes match the hair color too.
- Tokyo Mew Mew everybody!
- Mew Ichigo
- Cafe Mew
- Mew Lettuce
- Mew Mint
- Mew Zakuro
- Mew Pudding
- Battle Angel Alita
- Also known as Gunnnnmmmmnmnm. (Hmmm, I may have added a couple of extra consonants in there.) According to my friend Colleen, there were approximately 572 different versions of this doll (or something like that, where's that wine bottle?).
- Biogirl
- Live action rocks!
- Boogie Pop Phantom
- Don't know whether I've shown these images before, but what the heck? Yea these many years ago, young'uns, Takara Bako offered dolls of the Boobie Pop Phantom and the schoolgirl from that series. They use the Kisara head mold. Oh, and the Phantom doll's outfit contains about 12,000 buckles, which I've opted to leave taped safely to the box.
This page was written to Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" (the best damn album of 2002!) and Guided By Voices's "Isolation Drills" (the best damn CD ever), both available at Amazon.com, your source for books, music, and so much more!
