Beware my Fearful Face!!!
What's Nuevo???
New junk I just got around to scanning
What's Nuevo?
Time again for another sporadic update!
Something old, something new, something Takara, and several things with blue hair....
Sailor Moon World
Almost too good to be true: real live Japanese people mount the stage and act out Sailor Moon cartoons, complete with cosplay-gone-wild accessories. And what's more, they made some absolutely kick-ass new dolls to commemorate the whole deal! Did I say almost too good to be true? It is too good to be true. Somebody kick me, I'm dreaming.
- Sailor Moon World 5 1/5 scale doll set
- In my humble opinion, the best damn Sailor Moon dolls in the world, and they're right here! Due to an acute lack of square footage in our ex-apartment, this set was hidden away in our storage space for many moons, only to be recently unearthed. Thus, you will understand my reluctance to debox Our Heroines for a better look. You might be able to see Usagi has some pretty neat furry wings. Still, the packaging is pretty kewl. If you look closely at the back, you can see dramatic pictures of the Sailor Moon World actors! Oooooo....
- Sailor Moon World 5 1/5 scale Sailor Moon doll
- Usagi in all her solo glory. Here's a semi-in-focus picture of her face. The face paint on these dolls is particularly nice for Bandai. And here are yet more thrilling images of the SM World gals giving it their all!
- Sailor Moon World Dream Pockets
- A number of dreamy little Dream Pocket scaled SMW dollies. These were also available in various repackagings. Kawaii!
- Talking Sailor Moon
- At last at last at last! (Happy doll dance.) I've been looking for the Japanese version of Talking Sailor Moon for one million years (as Dr. Evil would say). And look! Here she is. This doll was activated by a secret magic wand, which I also probably have around her somewhere (I think it's buried under Kero-chan plushies). Anyways, now to bragging: here's the lineup of all my babbling Moons. I now have Sailor Moon dolls who can shout "Moon Crystal Power" in Japanese, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Quit an achievement, hmmm?
Ye Olde Volks Shoppe
- "Leather" Gjinalu
- I hadn't purchased any Volks stuff in a while, which probably made my credit card company quite happy. However, I was tempted back into the fold by this vixen. Not only does she have weird hair and another intriguing Volks-designed outfit (do women in Volks-land ever do anything like sit down?), her box advertises that she sports a Fearful Face. Does it look full of fear? It certainly look full of cosmetics.
- Dark Angel Mei Mei
- I had a friend in high school named Mei. She always carried around no less than six purses or bags. It used to take her half an hour to dig out spare change. That however has nothing to do with Dark Angel Mei Mei, who would probably scare my friend, Mei, to death. Mei Mei has rather lovely pink hair, don't you think?
Yet More Anime Dolls
- Takara Gatchaman G3
- I thought I would pick up a few anime dolls, since that's what I collect, after all. This gal is part of the Cool Girl series. Swan Jun is one of the five Gatchaman sentai, though y'all might know her as Princess from the American-ified Battle of the Planets. This doll is absolutely lovely, maybe the best Gatcha-doll ever made. Let's gaze at the packaging yet one more time. "If I should fall from grace with God." Ooo, portentious!
- Baton Girl Comet-san
- Don't know too much about this show except it's mahou shoujo (that's magical girls to you, boss). I like the character design though.
And now, I must dither....
