- Calendar Girl 1998 Premium
Doll
- Wow! OK, here's the story: if you buy all 12 of the Calendar Girls in
a series, at the end of the year, you get to also buy a cool premium doll.
This is the gal from the 1998 series, and she's amazing! Look at that green hair done up in
Princess Leia buns!
- Samba Carnival Jenny
- Some people like to collect Jenny dolls of the world. This is a
pretty cool doll, but I justified the purchase because of all that curly
curly blue hair.
- Abel
- This pink-haired Jenny friend was a Takara Bako special
- Lingere Jenny with pink
hair
- From the sublime to the ridiculous: and this is what Princess
Leia might look like if they'd shot Star Wars in Japan, as an S&M movie,
while the crew smoked crack.
- Blue-haired Ellie
- Green-haired Ellie
- Totoco specials. Both of these dolls are boxed.
- Pink-haired Ellie
- Another Totoco special, this doll comes in a baggie. Ellie must be
the Jenny friend who's aspiring to star in an anime. How else can you
explain the constant hair-color changes?
- Dreadlocks Ellie, 2nd ed
- Talk about bad hair day! This Ellie doll is the appropriate
counterpart to the original Tom.
- Dreadlocks Ellie, 1st ed
- Is this true? Can there be two rasta Ellie dolls? I think the
explanation is that the Totoco shop loves to make a jillion variations of
it's special dolls (witness the many permutations of Chinese Lina).
Here's a side by side comparison of the two dreadlocks Ellies in my
collection. Note that the one on the left is dressed in khaki, she is
wearing her boots, her hair is put up, and there is no name on the box.
The doll on the right is dressed in a Juliana-like pink miniskirt, she is
not wearing her boots, her hair is down, and the box says "Ellie." I
believe the first edition doll is the one that lacks the name "Ellie" on
the box.
- Red Haired Kisara
- It came from Totoco! It's Kisara, and it's got weird hair! Can Pam
resist the temptation? Not on your life!
- Blue Haired Kisara
- These dolls were available with this blunt cut, or with super-long hair. And all in this
neat Morticia Addams-style dress, with a spooky pattern on the box.
- Totoco Kisara with long
blue hair
- In a shameless bit of pandering to Kisara fans world wide, the Totoco
shop created a series of weird-haired Kisara dolls this year. The other set sports a Lulu-like bob
hairstyle, but these long-haired dolls are pure Morticia Addams.
- Totoco Kisara with long red
hair
- The worst decision for folks like me (Kisara fetishists with a yen for
weird haired dolls) is: which Kisara to choose? Being the woman
with no will power, it's no choice for me, I gotta have all of 'em!
- Totoco red-haired Raph
- Totoco's run of weird-haired friend dolls continues with bunch o'
Raphs. There are actually four different dolls in the set (that I know of
anyway): red and blue-haired, both in long and short versions. This is
(obviously) the long-haired, Kato Kalein-inspired version of redhead Raph.
Here's a picture of the doll boxed doll. You can see the boxes
are similar to those used for the red- and blue-haired Kisara dolls.
- Totoco blue-haired Raph
- This is long, blue-haired Raph. BTW, Raph acutally used the same head
mold as Boyfriend Tom, which means these weird-haired dolls could
also be considered part of my Tom collection. At least, that's how
I justified getting several of them. Here's what the doll looks like in box.
- Angels Garden Jessica
- This is the first of the Angels Garden friends I've bought. The AG
girls have a bit more "anime" features, and when I found out this gal had
pink hair, I was sold! Here's an image of Jessica
out of box, and her
face.
- June Birthstone (series 1) Calendar Girl
Jenny
- I know she's a Jenny but with that big wedding gown and the pink hair,
she looks like she just fell in from Peach Wedding. This is from the
first series of Jenny Calendar Girls.
- February Birthstone (series
1) Calendar Girl
Jenny
- I'm a nut for pink-haired Jenny dolls, and this one is just about as
kooky as it gets. Besides the two big pink Chibi Usa-like pony tails, she
wears a dress with HUGE Valentine hearts, plus carries a heart-shaped
purse.
- June Birth Flower Calendar Girl
- The June Jenny's so far have been brides, and
like most brides, they have big wedding gowns, and bright pink hair. :-)
- October Birthstone (series 2)
Calendar Girl
- I drove all the way down to Renton just to get this doll! OK, the
outfit would be considered a criminal offense in many of the 50 states,
but the hair is incredible.
Although it looks all blue in the photographs, it's actually light blue
mixed with green. Soon as I get a house with some display room,
I'm gonna haul this gal out of her box and put her in a cool outfit.
- Boyfriend Tom
- In Tom's later incarnations, he's gotten considerable paler. This
however is the original Tom, as in Jeff vs.
Tom from that David Hammon article on Jenny's boyfriends. (BTW, if
you want to know more about Jenny, try checking out some back issues of
Barbie Bazaar--David's written a great series of articles on Jen &
friends.)
- Blue Happy Color Jenny
- This is not just any old weird haired doll, no no! Jenny's got
Happy Color! Aren't you happier now? Take a gander at the back of the box to see the other
two happy Jenny dolls, in pink, and lemon yellow.
- Pink Happy Color Jenny
- The second Happy Color doll I found. To recap, there's a set of three
of these Happy Color Jenny dolls, one in blue (which I have), one in
yellow (which I was still looking for, at the time), and one in pink,
pictured here. Remember, it's not just color, it's happy
color!
- Yellow Happy Color Jenny
- I guess the big news in Jenny's World this month is that I
finally completed my set of Happy
Color Jenny dolls. Here's a glimpse at MoteMote, the yellow-haired
happpy doll. Her hair is actually not as yellow as I'd thought, but more
of a light blond.
- Color Hair Abel
- OK,
so you knew this latest color hair business couldn't just stop with
our old pal Jenny, but had to spread to her trendy friends. And just to
prove the point, here is Abel with pink hair and a
foofy
dress to match. Here's a close-up of her face. And no, she doesn't
have pink eye.
- Color Hair
Mille-feuille
- The doll with the name you can't spell! I must admit, I've never
previously had any inclination to own a Mille-feuille, until, that
is, I saw this amusing lavender-haired example. This is a great-looking
doll, actually worth keeping around in her original outfit. Here's a
macro of the doll's face.
- Blue Color Hair Jenny
- Pink Color Hair Jenny
- Yellow Color Hair
Jenny
- And, just to complete the series, the set of three three Color Hair Jenny
dolls.
- Licca Castle Jenny!
- This flaming redhead was offered only at the Licca Castle. She looks
kind of like a lost Happy Color doll.
- Scary Jenny hair!
- The first time I became aware of this Jenny accessory was when Masaki
showed me a photograph in a Takara catalog. "Here, you need to get this!"
he advised. "AAAAARGH!" I screamed. And, it is just as scary in person.
