- Jenny's Club S
Charles
- Woo-hoo! This exclusive Jenny boyfriend was only available throughJenny's Club S. Before you
get too excited, I believe club membership is limited to residents of
Japan. AWWWW! Here's a head shot, so you too can
marvel over dreamboat's kissable lips!
-
Hiphop Jeff
- Jeff is definitely one of Jenny's dorkier boyfriends (after all,
back in the day, he used to be a Ken doll). But, he actually looks
rather fetching decked out in Takara's fanciful version of street attire. I
especially like the "Hey gang, let's go rob a 7-11!" style knit
cap. With those dark
eyes, he actually looks like this guy I had a crush on back in 6th
grade.
- Castle Jeff with blue hair
- OK, some guys (like Raph) may be able to get away with the long blue hair, but Jeff just looks kind of uncomforatble. I do like the cool Pep Boys t-shirt, and the fact that they packed him with a cool skateboard.
- Hiphop Raph
- It's the new millennium. Time for Jenny's boyfriends to get big floppy hats and really really
big pants. This Raph is especially fetching, with his really, really big zipper.
- Total Coordinate Raph
- Every Jenny fan's favorite slacker, Raph, this time trying to sneak a
Hawaiian shirt under that Ralph Lauren-looking outfit. That's so 80's,
man! The back of the box has a hilarious picture of Jenny rocking out to
guitar-guy Raph's jamming.
- Circus Bravo Raph
- Don't he look cute in a tux? My guess is Jenny's papa-san put his
foot down about Mr. Guitar Guy, so Raph had to have Ellie get him a job.
- Pep Boys Raph
- Not super-exciting, I'd just been wanting this Raph for the silly Pep
Boys t-shirt for some time now. Oddly, under the logo, the shirt says,
"Jeff is American fashion." Well, sorry to disappoint you, Takara, but if
Jeff was American fashion, we wouldn't all be buying Raph
dolls, now would we?
- Totoco red-haired Raph
- Totoco's run of weird-haired friend dolls continues with bunch o'
Raphs. There are actually four different dolls in the set (that I know of
anyway): red and blue-haired, both in long and short versions. This is
(obviously) the long-haired, Kato Kalein-inspired version of redhead Raph.
Here's a picture of the doll boxed doll. You can see the boxes
are similar to those used for the red- and blue-haired Kisara dolls.
- Totoco blue-haired Raph
- This is long, blue-haired Raph. BTW, Raph acutally used the same head
mold as Boyfriend Tom, which means these weird-haired dolls could
also be considered part of my Tom collection. At least, that's how
I justified getting several of them. Here's what the doll looks like in box.
- Raph
- Are-dressed doll. I got tired of looking at Raph in his jams,
so I dressed him in Licca's Papa's kimono. Love those nerd glasses.
- Angel's Garden Shou
- Jenny's newest boyfriend! This guy is in the Angel's Garden series of
anime-looking dolls. As far as I know, he is the first male Jenny doll to
have a Super Action type body.
Here's a picture of him out of
box, complete with shopping bag. I believe the Takara story on this
doll is that he wants to be a hairdresser. Well, that darned
Raph could sure use a haircut!
- Boyfriend Tom
- In Tom's later incarnations, he's gotten considerable paler. This
however is the original Tom, as in Jeff vs.
Tom from that David Hammon article on Jenny's boyfriends. (BTW, if
you want to know more about Jenny, try checking out some back issues of
Barbie Bazaar--David's written a great series of articles on Jen &
friends.)
- Takara Bako Tom
- This is one of a special series of Jenny boyfriends that were
available in Japan only from the Takara Bako site (Takara's web site).
Tom cleans up, and joins a barbership quartet? This guy must have spent
some time in the Michael Jackson clinic since his Jeff vs. Tom! days.
- Chinese Tom
- Our story so far: When he first showed up in Jenny-land, Tom
was a dreadlocked punk off to make trouble for Jenny's true-blue Jeff.
His next incarnation was as a clean-cut blond surfer type in Jenny's
barbershop quartet o' boyfriends. (Are you confused yet?) Well, Tom is
back, and this time, he's got waist-length black hair and comfy
black Chinese jammies.
- Tom in khaki
- But wait, there's more: Tom is going on safari, and he's wearing his
dad's jacket! (No, I don't know what's up with the sleves.) This
is Tom as you've never seen him before, with long, long honey-blond hair.
Yummy! Watch out, Raph. (Oh, and be sure to check out Darla's page,
Tom Revealed, for yet
more pix and fax about our fave-rave, Tom.)
