Gatchaman Goodies
From the collection of Gus Lopez. Gatchaman. Battle of the
Planets. G-Force. And now "Eagle Riders?" This series has had more
names than the Gabor sisters combined.
Some toys from Korea
In Korea, Gatchaman is known as "Eagle Five Brothers." (And, no, I
don't know what this makes Jun!) There are a lot of cool new toys, as
well as bootlegs, currently on the market there.
- Korean "Eagle Five
Brothers" store display
- This store display was used for some nifty swords, but I think in this case,
the packaging is way cooler than the toys. Here's the back of the display.
- Ken Mask
- A carded version of the sword shown above, this includes a ken mask,
and little Ken figure. (So you could pretend you're Ken playing with your
own action figures? Shades of Space Balls....).
- Korean "Eagle Five
Brothers" Phoenix Ship
- This plastic ship includes one of them thar
Power Rangers Ken figures. Here's a peek at the artwork on the back. Ken wants you!
- Sonokong God Phoenix
Model
- Another day, another Phoenix model.... Made of that miracle
substance, plastic!
- Sonokong G5 Model
- This is another of those little bitty models. So far, Gus has about
half a dozen of these, all with different arwork, and the same damn model
inside.
- Five Figure Set
- The box art on this puppy is fabulous. Image courtesy of Mike
Noce'.
- Ken figure
- Ken looks like he's a lost Power Ranger
- Phoenix ship (plastic)
- As always, great artwork. Here's a look at the back.
- Gun with Figure
- Don't know what exactly to call this, but it's about the coolest
Gatchaman toy in the Universe. It's basically a gun with a Power
Ranger-looking figure of Ken. Real nice artwork on the box.
- Phoenix Ship
- OK, so it's not die-cast. D'oh! But it's damn pretty anyway.
- Tiny's transport model
- A small, plastic model.
- Princess's motorcycle model
- This is actually two model's in one: it also contains Tiny's transport.
- Phoenix model
- I can't find a manufacturer name on the box, although it's listed as
Model # 2000.
- Phoenix model
- Made by a company called Sonokong, and probably even licensed!
- Phoenix model
- Yet another model of the Phoenix, this one by Academy. This is the
most elaborate Korean model I have.
- Art set
- Even though this set is Korean, it obviously says, "Gatchaman," and
not "Eagle Five Brothers."
- Oil Pastel set
- Wouldn't wanna go to art class without Ken's pretty kisser on your box
o' crayons, now would you?
Yet more Gatcha-toys
- Mysterious Ken
- A Japanese Ken figure. We can decipher the "Mini Size Series" from
the box, but that's about all we know about him. (Image provided by
Ray Miller--thanks, Ray!)
- Twirling Ken toy
- Kind of like a Skydancer, only cool.
- Twirling Joe toy
- They made Joe Skydancer, too. Will those boys ever stop their
rivalry?
- Battle of the Planets lunchbox
- This is one of the nicest metal lunchboxes I've ever seen.
- God Phenix
- Battle of the Planets/G-Force figure set
- This figure set and the individual carded figures shown below were
issued in Europe.
- Kiap action figure
- Princess action figure
- Erasers
- Another Eraser
- At least, I think it's supposed to be an eraser.
- Gatchaman Oil Pastels
- You wouldn't dream of an art class without Gatchaman, would you?
- Gatchaman plushies
- A day without Gatchaman is like.....a day without Battle of the
Planets! This is a new Eagle Ken UFO catcher doll (center) that came in a
set with plushies form assorted other shows. Which shows, you ask? Who
the hell cares, I just want my Gatchaman!!!
- Ken Keyring
- This item is probably Japanese. You can also use it for a Ken Xmas
ornament, if you want to have a gatcha-Xmas.
- Ryu and Katse keychains
- Gatchaman! It's not just for breakfast any more. Here's some cute
Tatsunoko SD keychains of Ryu and that evil Berg Katse.
- Swan Jun keyring
- A really bad image of the Tatsunoko keyring.
- Gatchaman keyring set
- Whoa! How many of these goldurned Tatsunoko keyrings did they make
anyway? (Rhetorical question kids: they've made 7 so far.) There's even
a teensy little Phoenix ship! By the way, these keyrings are from Terry
and Carmen, two very very nice people who sell a lot of anime stuff on
ebay. Thanks again!
- Pins
- No idea if these are BOTP, Gatchaman, official, or fan-made. But
they're damn purty!
